Herman Dunkel & Germany’s Premier CCR Tribute Band
Rarely in the history of rock music has there been such a close connection between a band and its audience as with CCR (Creedence Clearwater Revival) during their successful years from 1967 to 1972—a time when the musicians around John Fogerty were among the most popular bands in the USA. Although the band came from Berkeley, California, and thus from the immediate vicinity of the "Flower Power" capital San Francisco, CCR's music reflected the rhythm & blues roots of the Mississippi Delta, blended with influences from Southern country rock and traditional folk music.
CCR's music—and thus John C. Fogerty's compositions and arrangements—stood in stark contrast to the mass trends of pop and rock music throughout their success. Yet at its core, it remained pure rock ’n’ roll—timeless and straightforward, uncompromising and unapologetic. No drum machines, no sequencers, no digital technology.
Herman Dunkel’s CCR Tribute Band is dedicated to exactly this sound. A sound that makes listeners happy because, amidst all the plastic and silicone, they’ve rediscovered these sparkling raw diamonds. A sound that, through many cover songs in today’s charts, has also become familiar to younger audiences. The music of Herman Dunkel’s CCR Tribute Band doesn’t come from a hard drive or a computer. Here, real musicians are at work—musicians who truly know their craft. No show-offs or ego-trippers, no musical monotony—just relentless transparency from guitar, drums, and bass. Honest music doesn’t need gimmicks, only solid skill and genuine passion.
But one thing is certain: it tugs at the heart when you turn back time. – "It’s only Rock ’n’ Roll"... and we like it!
Herman Dunkel’s CCR Tribute Band has supported acts such as Manfred Mann’s Earth Band, Spider Murphy Gang, Middle of the Road, Spencer Davis Group, Albert Lee and the Hogans, T. Rex, Chris Andrews, Hello, and many more.
